Pediatric dentists (also known as Pedodontists) focus on treating children from birth through adolescence. The American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes pediatric dentistry as a specialty, and therefore requires dentists to undertake two or three years of additional training after completing a general dentistry degree. At the end of this training, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry issues a unique diploma.
One of the most important aspects of pediatric dentistry is child psychology. Pediatric dentists are specially trained to create a friendly and fun atmosphere for their young patients. We want your children to have a positive experience at the dentist, because we know their first experiences shape their future dental health.
No Shot, No Drill Preventative Care
We regularly use microabrasion, an incredibly comfortable technology that has the ability to clean out tooth decay without the sounds, heat, pressure and vibration that typically accompany a drill-induced cleaning or cavity filling. Additionally, smaller cavities can be treated without the use of local anesthesia, which means no needles! This advance has been combined with laser diagnosis, which allows the dentist to “see” in the small grooves that form in teeth.
In addition to being drill-free and needle-free, microabrasion allows for quick fillings. Small cavities found during routine cleanings can often be filled in about 10 minutes on the same day when using microabrasion.
Our treatment rooms are equipped with heated massage chairs and TVs, to help keep your children happy and comfortable during their dental treatment.
